What do you think the Promethian spirit looks like in ministry?
What is the cost if most of our pastoral work happens on a computer? What do we lose?
Peterson says “In twentieth-century America the prophetic pastor of action and the managerial pastor are the ministry role models; the prayerful pastor leading people in worship draws, at best, a yawn.” Do you agree?
“The inner action of prayer takes precedence over the outer action of proclamation.” What do you think?
Prayer means that we deal first with God and then with the world. Or, that we experience the world first not as a problem to be solved but as a reality in which God is acting.
How is prayer a part of your pastoring?

Anything you found yourself disagreeing with?
“Prayer is answering speech; it is not primarily address, but response” What do you think about this concept of prayer as the second word?
Peterson says: Pastoral work means staying awake and keeping others awake to this language and giving answer to every word of it. Not all at once, of course, but all the time, for nothing in our lives escapes the creative and saving word of God that invites answers in the faith and obedience language of prayer.” How do we do this?
As you read this, are you becoming aware of anything that is missing from your prayers?
